Officine DRAG combines advanced design methods with creativity to develop molds for the production of innovative plastic products in all areas of industry.

01

Product feasibility studies

Officine DRAG verifies the effective feasibility, functional characteristics and appearance of all products, and above all, the economic sustainability of the entire project.
We use a range of technologies to turn ideas into reality, and to advise customers at all stages, from design to engineering.
In particular, we offer:

– Three-dimensional modelling: preliminary verification of mechanisms and potential problems;
– Reverse engineering: transformation of a physical prototype into a 3D digital format in order to begin the mould design process;
– Pilot molds: to develop new products, test innovative materials, and ensure cost-effective products;
– A “design to cost” approach: to propose the most effective production equipment or focus attention on the solution’s cost-effectiveness, depending on the customer’s needs.

Design and production of molds

Officine DRAG combines advanced design methods with creativity to develop molds for the production of innovative plastic products in all areas of industry.
Once the construction of the mold has been decided, an instruction manual is shared with the customer, containing all the information needed to ensure correct use of the equipment along with instructions for scheduled maintenance:

– Mold construction: a highly specialised department carries out all the necessary steps: CAM, roughing, finishing, polishing, assembly, and final testing;
– Certified raw materials: a careful selection of reliable and certified suppliers;
– Moldflow: solutions for accurately identifying optimal cavity filling procedures, specific details of moulded parts, deformation and appropriate cooling methods.

Mold testing and pre-series release

To ensure maximum mold quality, Officine DRAG undertakes tests that verify efficiency and functionality. We use a 280 ton press that can be equipped with a second screw to allow both single and bimaterial molds to be tested.

– Testing on injection molding presses from 100t to 1000t;
– Injection molding service with production of pre-series and small sample series;
– Colour testing and testing of alternative, recycled and biomaterials;
– CP/CPK dimensional analysis;
– Post-molding processes such as component assembly, preparation of special packaging (for shipping by sea), and final shipping.

Customer care

Mold delivery is a key step in the supply chain and incorporates various services, including customer support after reception. Among the various service solutions, customers can request:

– Support from expert technicians: installation of equipment at the customer’s premises, mentoring during production start-up and on-site personnel training;
– GANTT planning: customer are kept constantly up to date on mould construction, process steps, and adherence to schedule, with progress documented by photos and videos. Schedule monitoring is essential to managing critical issues that might arise during work;
– Mold delivery and technical documentation:
– Raw material certificates and commercial part warranties;
– Technical tables in 2D and 3D formats;
– Specific operation and maintenance manual;
– Spare parts for areas subject to wear and tear;
– Maintenance and repairs: after repair, each mold is scrupulously tested in-house before it is returned.
